Методы измерения объема бревна, предусматривающие измерение диаметра и длины бревна и вычисление объема по принятой модели бревна. Рекомендуемые методы поштучного измерения объема - по РД 13-2-3-97. Общепринятым методом измерения объема бревен является метод срединного сечения. Традиционно используемый в россии метод вычисления объема по таблицам ГОСТ 2708-75 не учитывает отклонения сбега бревен по породам и районам заготовки. Систематические погрешности определения объема по эти таблицам составляет от минус 11 % до плюс 9 % (завышение объема крупномерных сосновых бревен, заготовленных в иркутской области).
